Fay Drake Sumter, 81, longtime Guymon resident passed away Tuesday, December 24, 2019 at her home.
Robbie Fay was born September 9, 1938 in Hamlin, Texas, the daughter of George and Lota (Proffit) McDaniel. Fay moved to Guymon at the age of 9 to live with her aunt, Erma and Charles Mallard.
Fay and Cecil Lee Drake were united in marriage on September 18, 1954 in Clayton, New Mexico. Fay was a homemaker and owned/operated the Tiger Den Candystore. Fay was a member of the First Baptist Church and was an active volunteer at the Dunaway Manor beauty shop for many years. Fay also had a great love for gardening and flowers.
Cecil preceded her in death in on April 4, 1988. Fay and Laddie Sumter were married October 19, 1991 at Fritch, Texas and he preceded her in death on July 23, 1994.
In addition to her husbands, she was preceded in death by two sons: Jimmy Charles Drake and Cecil Lee "Sonny" Drake, Jr.; one granddaughter, Anna Drake; an infant sister, Janie Lee McDaniel; sister, Neoma McGinley and brother, James McDaniel.
Survivors include her three daughters: Linda Tooley of Guymon, Brenda George and husband, Joey of Lexington, South Carolina and Glinda Harvey of Beaver, Oklahoma; numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren; three sisters: Peggy Hall of Billings, Montana, Melba Helms of Cache, Oklahoma and Barbara Weaver of Hamlin, Texas; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
Fay's family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Sunday evening, December 29th from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday afternoon, December 30th at 1:00 p.m. at the First Baptist Church with Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.
Memorial donations in Fay's name can be given to the Ronald McDonald House or Reba's Ranch House. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
