Evelyn Maxine (Herald) Witzke was born February 3, 1929 on the family homeplace NW of Hooker, Oklahoma to Roy Arthur and Bessie Irene (Hampsten) Herald.  Evelyn attended the Hooker school system, graduating with the Class of 1947.

Evelyn and Ernest E. Witzke were united in marriage on July 27, 1947 in Hooker.  They made their home in Yukon where they raised their two children, Cynthia Jean and Jerald Ray, later moving to Oklahoma City.  Ernest preceded her in death on March 25, 1991.  Evelyn attended Bethany Beauty College and owned and operated several beauty shops in the Bethany area.  She was also a devoted homemaker.  She was an active member of the Mayfair Church of Christ before returning to Hooker in late 2007, where she was a member of the Hooker Church of Christ.  Evelyn enjoyed crocheting, opening her home to family and friends, hosting family reunions and was an avid OU Sooner fan.  She loved her Lord and her family and had a true servant's heart.

Evelyn received her Heavenly reward on Sunday morning, November 30, 2025 at the age of 96.  Although she will be missed dearly, we rejoice knowing she is where she longed to be.

In addition to her husband, Ernest, she was preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Bessie Herald; her son-in-law, Steve Barnes; one brother, Ernest Herald and wife, Rowena; and one sister, Veda and husband, Don Morris.

Survivors include her daughter, Cynthia Barnes of Hooker; her son, Jerry Witzke of Oklahoma City; five grandchildren: Jeremy Witzke and wife, Kristy of Oklahoma City, Jeannene Williams and husband, Brandon of McCloud, OK, Greg Barnes and wife, Leiah, Corey Barnes and wife, Raven and Chase Barnes and wife, Sarah of all Hooker; eleven great grandchildren:  Henry, Zek, Eva, Zander, Ember, Alexa, Taelor, Aubri, Cooper, Connor and Baker; two brothers: Keith Herald and wife, Jerri and Doyle Herald all of Hooker; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.

Funeral services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, December 4th at 1:00 p.m. at the Hooker Church of Christ.  Graveside services will be Friday afternoon, December 5th at 1:00 p.m. at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens, 8701 Northwest Expressway in Oklahoma City.
