Eva Hierro Sansabas, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother passed away early Saturday, August 29, 2026 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas, surrounded by her loving family.

The daughter and first born child of Luis Sansabas and Simona Chacón, she was born September 7, 1935 in Guadalupe, Chihuahua, Mexico. Eva was baptized on August 22, 1936 at Santa Teresita Catholic Church in Ft. Hancock, Texas.

Eva met her first and only love, Socorro Hierro and they were united in marriage on August 19, 1958 in Mexico. They made their home in Hitchland, Texas for 10 years, before moving to Guymon where they have resided since. Socorro preceded her in death on July 22, 2021.

Eva was a very devout Catholic and instilled that faith in her family. She was an active member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church and had served as a eucharistic minister, sacristan, Guadalupana and cursillista having lived many cursillos.

Although faith was everything to her, Eva’s family was her pride and joy - especially her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She was an excellent homemaker and cooked many meals for her husband, six children and her children’s friends, who especially loved her flour tortillas. Nothing made her happier than being in the kitchen, preparing for others.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; all of her siblings: Alicia Tovar, Juan Chacón, Pablo Jimenez and LuzElena Jimenez; and one son, Victor Hierro on January 2, 2026.

Survivors include five children: Norma Ballard, Oscar Hierro, Socorro Hierro, Jr. (Dora), Nora Peña (Alejo) and Teresa Bowers (Monte); daughter-in-law, Jonna Hierro; grandchildren: Bryan, Natalie (Chris), Keelan (Masha), Aubrey (Nolan), Paiton (Jake), Taylor (Michael), Evan and Noah; great grandchildren: Alex, Olivia, Liliana, Helena, Kaia, Penelope and Bryan M., Jr.; along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be Tuesday, September 1st from 4:30 to 6:30 at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home. Rosary will be recited Tuesday evening, September 1st at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be held Wednesday morning, September 2nd at 11:00 a.m. also at St. Peter’s with Father Rodrigo Serna, celebrant. Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.
