Ernest Freddie "Ernie" Forbes, 85, of Guymon, passed away Wednesday morning, February 28, 2024 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.

The son of Freddie LeRoy and Alma Emily (Ross) Forbes, Ernie was born November 2, 1938 in Elkhart, Kansas.  He attended Elkhart schools, was a member of the Elkhart Methodist Church, and an Army Veteran.

He was married to Gale Kay Massie in 1991 in Guymon.  Ernie worked as a truck driver, and also in the oil fields.

He is preceded in death by his parents and ten siblings.

Survivors include his wife, Gale of the home, two sisters, Veda Douglas of Hagler, Nebraska, and Grace Childs of San Antonio, Texas, one brother, Charles Forbes of Wilburton, Kansas, son-in-law, Sonny Rodger of Alex, Oklahoma, grandson, Donnie Rodger of Alex, Oklahoma, and numerous nieces and nephews, including Bill and Teresa Carlile of Elkhart, Kansas.

Graveside inurnment with military honors will be Saturday morning, April 13, 2024 at 11:00 a.m.at the Elkhart Cemetery, Elkhart, Kansas
