Cecil Douglas Elliott, 78, of Hardesty, Oklahoma, went to his Heavenly home on Sunday, July 16th, 2017, at his home in Hardesty.

Doug was the son of Cecil and Iva (Sutton) Elliott, of Hardesty, and was born (or as he liked to say "came to this country") on December 23, 1938. At a very young age, Doug and his two siblings were diagnosed with Polio. They went to OKC, as a family, for treatment, and when returned, it is remembered by many, how Dougwould adamantly refuse help anytime anyone offered to help carry his books, walk, or do something. Even though Polio visibly crippled Doug for his whole life, he never relied on any medicines, walking accessories, or other people to get any job done. He was proudly independent and was not going to let the effects of Polio define him.

Doug was the father of two daughters, Suzanne and Marcquitta, who were born into his union with Elizabeth Vantine. He also brought a son, Steve, into this world while married to Patricia Crisp Elliott. With this union, he also became step-father to Stacey.
Doug worked in various places at different jobs, but ended up settling back in Hardesty where he retired from the county, worked on the Optima Dam crew, and farmed and ranched. Doug was a very crucial person in building the Dam, as he was hired by almost every contractor who worked on the Dam. Doug did many different types of jobs from running a blade to being a foreman of a dirt crew, and everything in between. He took pride in the fact that he ran a blade, and ran it well, for both the county and the Dam crew. He was the definition of hard work.

Doug was a steadfast, loyal and fun friend. You never had to wonder where you stood with Doug, because he would always let you know. He was the salt of the Earth, a hard worker who took what life blessed him with and made into more. He was always ready with quick wit and a funny one-liner to make you laugh.

Doug was an excellent Father and Grandfather, one who always provided for and loved his kids, and was a good mentor and friend to his children as well. Doug could be counted on to keep the kids whenever asked, and who would go to games and activities the kids were in involved in. Doug was a fun Grandad, always ready with a joke or a prize or a candy, and one who sometimes was just content to sit and smoke while watching the grandkids interact. He was always on time or early with fantastic birthday cards that had a little dough in them, to boot. And he ALWAYS knew just the right type and size of presents to give for Christmas…because he always gave every kid a brand new, clean and crisp one-hundred-dollar bill.

Doug was preceded in death by his parents Cecil and Iva Elliott; grandson, Stratton Landess;niece, Kelly Pickard; aunt, Ruby Miller; and sister-in-law Patty Elliott.

Survivors include: daughter, Suzanne and husband, Bill Landess of Guymon; daughter, Marcquitta and husband, Darrell Hamm of Choctaw; son, Steve Elliott and wife, Jaree of Grady, NM; daughter, Stacey and husband, Dr. Gary Mathews of Beaver; brother,Emery Elliott and wife, Ruth of Hooker; sister, Myrna and husband, Larry Pickard of Hooker; grandkids, Mark Landess and wife, Molly; Brian Clark and wife, Logan; Lori Clark; and Cody, Karlee, Chantzee, and Kitlee Elliott; and great grandkids, Bentley and Elliott Landess;Charlee, Atticus and Major Clark;Zoe, Zane, and Zaylie Bonilla; and many nieces, nephews, cousins, and dear friends, including Wayne Overton (Mayor), Jim Hopkins (Hop), Joanne Steward, Pat Elliott, Harry Fox, Claude Cody and Onion Yell. Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, July 19th at 10:00 am at Hardesty High School Auditorium with Rev. Odie Nunley officiating. Interment will follow in the Hartville Cemetery. Family will greet friends, Tuesday, July 18th, between the hours of 5 and 7 pm at the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home.Services are under the care of the Bunch-Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
