Donald Lee Murrah, 85, of rural Guymon passed away early Tuesday, May 24, 2022 at his home.
The son of LeRoy and Leila (Montgomery) Murrah, Don was born December 25, 1936 in Gruver, Texas. He graduated from Gruver High School with the Class of 1955 and then attended Panhandle A&M College and West Texas State University. Don had an amazing memory of his growing up years in Gruver and enjoyed sharing those memories.
Don accepted Jesus as his Lord and Savior when very young at his beloved Baptist Church in Gruver. Don's early adult years were spent as a mechanic in his dad's farm dealership and farming interests. Later, he worked in various mechanical positions in the oil and gas industries of south Texas. His later years were spent gardening and woodworking. He enjoyed fellowshipping with fellow Christians and reading his Bible.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his oldest son, Dennis Lee Murrah.
Survivors include his wife, Jeanne (Mussman) Murrah of the home; his children: Darryl Murrah and wife, Kim, Debra Murrah, Dionna Murrah Carr and husband, Matt, James Murrah and wife, Julianne; grandchildren: Dustin Murrah (Kayla), Kelly Murrah Adams (Brently), Tyler Murrah, Whitney Carr, Addison Carr, Cameron Carr, Fierra Murrah, Kinsley Murrah; great grandchildren: Paisley Streetman, Dane Murrah, Zoe Murrah, Karter Murrah; and two siblings, Dr. David Murrah and Virginia Murrah Gwyn.
The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Friday evening, May 27 th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Funeral services will be conducted Saturday morning, May 28 th at 10:00 a.m. at Grace Southern Baptist Church in Guymon with Gene Brooks officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Cal Farley's Boys Ranch, which was one of Don's favorite charities. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
