Donald Ray McCann, 70, longtime Hooker resident passed away Sunday, July 5, 2026 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
The son of John Otis and Rose Ellen (Bannum) McCann, Don was born February 3, 1956 in Shreveport, Louisiana. The family moved to Hooker, Oklahoma and Don attended the Hooker school system.
Don and Susan Holland were married in 1983. She preceded him in death on May 22, 2000. On February 2, 2011, Don was married to Laura Sandoval in Clayton, New Mexico. Don loved his family and was an avid gardener. He had worked as a truck driver for Seaboard for 15 years, retiring in 2021. Don was a member of Connection Church in Guymon.
He was also preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Michael McCann.
Survivors include his loving wife, Laura McCann of the home in Hooker; six children: Jenniffer Fitzgerald and Ronald Friess of Liberal, Jamie Osborn and Dewaine of Hooker, Jason McCann and Heidi of Guymon, Roselee Johnson and Jordan of Maple Grove, Minnesota, Zachary Sandoval and Vannesa of Guymon, and Tasha Overpeck and Freed Freihat of Washington, DC; 15 grandchildren: George, Timothy, Seth, Kyle, Natalee, Kaden, MaKenna, Allie, Jaden, Finlee, Winslet, Waylan, Anyiah, Bentley and Maverick; and one great granddaughter, Faye. Don is also survived by one brother, Daniel and Janice McCann of Hooker; three sisters: Pat and Mike Minter and Rosa DeGolier all of Gore, Oklahoma, and Teresa Turner of Sallisaw, Oklahoma; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home in Guymon on Thursday evening, July 9th from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. Graveside funeral services will be Friday morning, July 10th at 10:00 a.m. at the Hooker Cemetery with Rev. Dr. Dallas McGlasson, pastor of Connection Church officiating.
