Dixie Lee Stockman, 66, formerly of Elkhart, Kansas, passed away Saturday evening, March 18th, 2017 at the Northwest Texas Hospital in Amarillo, Texas.
The daughter of Charles William Payne and Bernadean Joyce Kraber, she was born February 21, 1951 in Hugoton, Kansas.
Dixie attended school in Elkhart, graduating with the Class of 1970. She then attended beauty college in Manhattan, Kansas. She made her home in Topeka, Kansas for several years where she worked as a beautician and owned and operated a children's day care.
She was united in marriage to Thomas E. Stockman in 2002 in Topeka. He preceded her in death on May 15, 2016. She is also preceded in death by a son, Noah Dale Akers, parents, Charles Payne and Bernadean "MeMa" Cotter, and grandparents, Bernard and Irma Kraber and Hewitt and Louise Payne.
Survivors include her step-father, Bob Cotter of Liberal, Kansas, sister, Charla Webb and husband, Jerry of Goodwell, brother, Jay Payne of Elkhart, nephew, Jace Webb of Goodwell, numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and the Stockman family of Topeka.
Memorial services will be conducted Thursday afternoon, March 23rd at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home with Mary Courtney, Manter, Kansas Methodist Church pastor officiating. Family Inurnment will be in the Rolla, Kansas cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
