Dewey Ovid Gilkey (DOG), age 61, passed away November 2, 2025, in the comfort of his daughter's home surrounded by those who loved him most.
He was born January 28, 1964, in Nevada, MO to Bobby R. Gilkey and Della Black.
He was a "Jack of all Trades", but was a certified diesel mechanic for most of his adult life.
When he wasn't working, and especially after he became disabled, he loved to fish. He also loved spending time with the pride and joy of his life, his grandkids.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shannon Gilkey, his father, mother, two brothers, John and Fred, and one sister, Lavonna.
He is survived by his six children and two bonus children. Amanda Gilkey, Hooker, OK; Tiffany Gilkey and partner Stacy, Guymon, OK; Josh Gilkey and wife Codi, Greensburg, KS; Jeremiah Gilkey and wife Faron, Guymon, OK; Kimberly Garcia and husband Crispin, Greensburg, KS; Jake Gilkey, Hooker, OK; Kristen Cypret, Adams, OK; Chandra Casaus and fiancé Brandon, Beaver, OK; his brother Joe Gilkey and wife Peggy, Nevada, MO; his sister Carol Fillpot, Centerville, KS; the mother of his children and longtime best friend Elizabeth Gilkey, Guymon, OK; mother-in-law, whom he called Mom, Dominga Gonzales, Guymon, OK; 24 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
A celebration of his life will be held Saturday, November 8th at 2:00 p.m. at the Northridge Free Will Baptist Church, 1738 N. Oklahoma St. in Guymon with his friend, Pastor John Bassett officiating. There will be a luncheon prior to the service at 12:00 p.m. at the church.
The family suggest that memorial donations can be given to a favorite wildlife charity in Dewey's memory. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
