Obituary

Dennis Leonard Grove, 65, of Guymon, Oklahoma, succumbed to his 11 month battle with cancer at 10:50 AM on March 14, 2026. He stepped up to the plate for the first at bat in to his next life much like he lived his Earthly life; centered around those who loved him.

Dennis made his worldly debut on May 24th, 1960, to Leonard and Aurelia "Tex" Grove, who preceded him in death. Dennis had 6 blissful years of being the apple of the families eye, and then he begrudgingly welcomed his only sibling, Doyle Grove, who also preceded him in death. Despite Doyle upsetting the spot light status quo, Dennis loved his family. He grew up surrounded by people who loved loudly, proudly, and fiercely.

Dennis was a 12 year senior of Guymon High School, graduating with the class of 1978. An honor that he was so proud of is the win of the Fun Fest 3 years in a row. Dennis was very involved with Guymon Athletics, even coaching his little brother in baseball. For anyone that knew Dennis, they knew that baseball was serious, and life was a game. He continued to be involved in youth athletics by coaching baseball for his son, and several years after. Teaching young men, how to properly wear a hat and to respect the game, the diamond, and their skills was a passion project of his.

His other passion project was his 1988 Shovel Head Harley that he loved like another child. Dennis started riding motorcycles at a young age and it is a love that followed him through every stage of his life. He played competitive softball well after was medically advised and had several surgeries for all the sports related injuries sustained. Dennis also loved to laugh and was rarely serious. He wore his signature mischievous grin more often than cargo shorts. He had a charming way of turning friends into his family. Whether they were golfing, fishing, riding motorcycles, making questionable choices, or in pool league together, the bond he created with them was stronger than friendship; it was a brotherhood.

Dennis was proud of many things in his life. He worked several different jobs before finding his career in the oil field to retire from. He was proud of his house and property, filling it with as many cars and motorcycles as he could, even if only 3 ran, but never simultaneously. He was proud of where he came from and his work on the Babe Ruth baseball field and the years of coaching. Above all else, he was proud of his children and his grand children and would tell you all about them even if no one asked.

Dennis is survived by his children; son Zachary Grove; daughter MaKenzee Grove and husband Carter Stewart; daughter Marisa and husband Joe Torchia; grandchildren Kyla, Bostyn, Shasta, Christian, and Emma; and fur grandchildren Ava, Scout, Callahan, Flerken, Abraxos, and Conrad, who was Dennis's best morning coffee buddy. He is also survived by his beloved niece and nephew, KyLeigh Grove and Isaac Grove, who he loved as his own; great niece, Korra, and great nephew, Jasper, as well as, two maternal uncles, and several very special cousins.
