David George Garcia, 82, longtime Guymon resident passed away early Thursday, April 11, 2024 at the BSA Hospital in Amarillo, Texas surrounded by his family.
The son of Seth and Essie (Vigil) Garcia, David was born September 8, 1941 in Clayton, New Mexico. David was raised and attended school in Clayton and served in the Army National Guard for six years.
David and Jeanie Trujillo were united in marriage on October 26, 1961 in Clayton. The family moved to Guymon in 1968, when David began his nearly 20 year career with Swift Packing Plant. Following the closing of the plant, David began working for the City of Guymon, where he worked until his retirement.
David enjoyed doing carpentry work and hunting, but especially loved spending time fishing and camping with his family. He and Jeanie enjoyed over 62 years together, raising their family. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church. David was a frequent blood donor.
He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Jerry Garcia.
Survivors include his loving wife, Jeanie Garcia of the home; seven children: Ernie Garcia of Guymon, Rudy Garcia of Oklahoma City, George and Meeky Garcia of Guymon, Ruby and Rodney Byler of Hesston, Kansas, Bobby Garcia of Oklahoma City, Joe and Beth Garcia of Longview, Texas and William and Shelly Garcia of Guymon; 17 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson. David is also survived by six sisters and one brother: Andrew and Roselee Garcia of Clayton, Barbara Marquez of Dumas, Rose Cruz of Guymon, Dorothy and Joe Cruz of Guymon, Delia Taylor of Clayton, Harriet and Albert Trujillo of Amarillo and Charlotte Lovato of Clayton; along with numerous nieces, nephews and extended family.
Visitation will be at 6:00 p.m. on Sunday evening, April 14th at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home with Rosary beginning at 7:30 p.m. Funeral Mass will be conducted Monday morning, April 15that 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church in Guymon with Father John Herrera, celebrant. Burial will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery.
