Darlene T. Cox, 83, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Saturday evening,
December 20, 2025 at the Fairview Fellowship Home in Fairview, Oklahoma.

The daughter of Lyle Bennett and Phyllis Irene (Pierson) Jones, she was born
November 9, 1942 in Clayton, New Mexico. Darlene attended school in Boise City,
graduating with the class of 1960.

She was married to Gale Cox on November 2, 1963. To this union two sons were born:
Derek and Sean Cox.

Darlene moved from Guymon to Claremore, Oklahoma in 2013, and to Fairview in
2024. She was a member of the Guymon First Baptist Church, longtime Sunday School
teacher and involved with Awanas. Through the years, she enjoyed attending many
sporting events and activities involving her grandchildren.

Darlene worked full time most of her adult life with jobs at the furniture store in Boise
City and in Guymon. She worked for Panhandle Travel, and was able to travel to
Europe and Hawaii during her travel agency days. She also worked for Memorial
Hospital of Texas County in the business department. During her time at Memorial
Hospital, Sean was hired as the Physical Therapy Manager and her daughter-in-law
Kim was hired as the Marketing Coordinator. In her last job, she served as a repair
service clerk with Panhandle Telephone, retiring in 2008.

In her retirement, Darlene was able to travel to Israel in 2016. And in 2022, all of her
family celebrated her 80th birthday with her in Branson, Missouri.

In June of 2008, Darlene wrote in one of her many journal entries, "All flesh is like grass,
and all its glory like the flower of grass. The grass withers and the flower fades, but the
word of God abides forever" (1 Peter 1:24)...In this world today there are many
uncertainties, but I do know for certain that the word of God never changes. Christ died
on the cross for my sins—past, present, and future. Now, I must set my mind on the
things above, not on earthly treasures." Darlene's faith has become sight. She has
heard the voice of her faithful Savior welcome her to heaven, "Well done, good and
faithful servant…enter the joy of your master" (Matthew 25:23, 25).

Darlene is preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Phyllis Jones, her step-mother,
Wanda Jones, brother Wallace Jones and sister, Lynda Favors.

Survivors include her sons: Derek Cox and wife Robin of Fairview, Sean and wife Kim
of Owasso; five grandchildren, Emily Cox, Kellen Cox, Kaleigh and husband Garrett
McCain, Cade Cox and wife Natalie, and Abbey Cox. Survivors also include two great
grandchildren: Cori and Cali Cox; sister Jan Bauer and husband Roger of Guymon, and
nephews, Nathan, Taylor and Nick Bauer.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday morning, January 2, 2026 at 11:00 a.m. at the
Guymon First Baptist Church with Derek and Sean Cox officiating. Interment will follow
at 3:00 p.m. in the Boise City Cemetery, Boise City, Oklahoma.

The Cox family suggests memorials be given to the Guymon First Baptist Church.
