Dale L. Moore, 94, a well-known Guymon farmer, passed away Monday evening, July 10, 2023, at the Heritage Community Manor.

The son of Samuel and Sarah Jimmie (Woodard) Moore, he was born May 10, 1929, in Chulafinnee, Alabama. In his early life in rural Alabama, he learned to work hard and was behind a mule and plow when he was only seven years old. His father was sick and unable to work, so he and his brother, Sammy, took care of the farming until their father was well again. After he graduated high school, he worked in the construction industry, running heavy equipment and becoming very proficient at running cranes.

During his early work days in the late 1940s, he moved to Guymon, Oklahoma, to run a crane and help build the Michigan Wisconsin Plant located south of Guymon. It was during this time that he met the love of his life, Betty Sue Enns. They were united in marriage on December 4, 1949, at the Presbyterian Church in Guymon.

He and Betty stayed in the Guymon/north Texas area for three years and welcomed their first three children—Dannie, Larry, and Kathi—into the world. Dale then took his small family back to Alabama where two more children—Susan and Johnny—were added to the clan.

In 1972, the family moved back to Guymon where Dale fulfilled a lifelong dream and began farming.  Over some 50 plus years, Dale built a very successful farming operation. He loved nothing better than driving around the farm to check the landscape and crops, tilling the soil, planting, driving the combine, and hauling grain to the elevator in his beloved red Volvo truck and trailer during harvest time. In his later years, his farming was turned over to two of his sons and a grandson.

God and life were good to him. Very few men get to do the thing they love most for a lifetime. He farmed the land, raised a family he was proud of, and had lots of grandchildren and great grandchildren he loved to be around. He left this life peacefully, a blessed man.

He is preceded in death by his parents Samuel and Sarah Jimmie (Woodard) Moore, his brothers Virgil, Sammie, and Virlyn Moore, and sisters Lucy Moore, Mildred Buchanan, Marjorie Flegel, and Mamie Montague.

Survivors include his wife, Betty Sue Moore of the home, five children and families, Dannie Moore and wife, Becky of Guymon, their children and grandchildren, Ashley Moore, Danielle & Cody Hanson, and Mallorie & Stefan Mueller (children Clayton and Audie Mueller); Larry Moore and wife, Carol of Guymon, their children and grandchildren, Jennifer & Trent Poling (children Dustin, Triton, and Alison Poling), Stephanie Moore (children Shaunie Moore and Rhett Yates), and Mitchell Jeffries; Kathi and husband, Charles Horn of Montgomery, Alabama, their children and grandchildren, Patrick & Tracy Owen, Dustin & Lisa Owen (children Roland and Florence Owen), and Mary & Michael Gibson (children Lara, Emily, and James Owen Gibson); Susan Moore of Guymon; and Johnny Moore and wife, Melanie of Guymon, their children and grandchildren, Johnathan & Noelle Moore (children McCoy, Marshall, and Parker Moore).

Memorial services will be conducted Friday afternoon, July 14th, at 2:00 p.m. at the Victory Memorial Methodist Church with Pastors David Player and Carol LaMar officiating.
