Obituary

Connie Tidwell, 76, of Guymon passed away early Thursday, December 28, 2023 at St. Catherine Hospital in Garden City, Kansas.

The daughter of Levene H. Spady and Zella Faye Bates-Collins, Constance Ann was born November 2, 1947 in Shattuck, Oklahoma.  In 1959, her mother married Cecil Russell and the family made their home in Perryton, Texas.  Connie graduated from Perryton High School with the Class of 1966.

Connie and David L. Tidwell were united in marriage on July 14, 1966 in Perryton, Texas.  Following David's honorable discharge from the US Army, they moved to Guymon in June 1967.

Connie was a devoted homemaker and kept books for the family business, Submergible Cable Services.  She was an avid supporter and volunteer of the Guymon FFA Alumni.  She was also an active member of the Guymon Sunset Lane Baptist Church.

Connie enjoyed camping with family and friends.  She was an artist by nature, and loved painting and quilting.  She dearly loved dogs, most especially her beloved Daisy.  Above all other things, she loved her family with a nearly unconditional love.  Connie was sassy, determined, and always had a "smart" comment to make for every occasion

She was preceded in death by her husband, David on March 13, 2020; her parents, Lavene Spady and Zella and Cecil Russell; brother, Harold Spady; sister and brother-in-law, Starr and Chuck Latimer.

Survivors include her two sons:  Russell Tidwell and wife, Debbie of Garden City, Kansas and Brian Tidwell of Radcliff, Kentucky; three grandsons: Caleb Tidwell, Michael Tidwell and David M. Tidwell; step-brother, Rick Russell of Amarillo, Texas; half-brothers Kenneth Spady, Richard Spady, and Terry Spady

The family will greet friends at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home on Monday, January 1st from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.   Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday morning, January 2nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Sunset Lane Baptist Church with Pastor David Moore officiating.  Graveside services will follow on Tuesday at 4:00 p.m. at the Dempsey Cemetery in Roger Mills County, Oklahoma.

Memorials in Connie's name can be made to the Sunset Lane Baptist Church or the Guymon FFA Alumni Association and will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.  Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com.
