Cleatus Leon "C.L." Wester, 88, passed in peace on January 22, 2021 at the Sheridan Medical Lodge in Burkburnett, TX.

C.L. was born in Erick, Oklahoma on July 30, 1932, the son of Solon H. and Stella (Johnson) Wester.  He graduated from Erick high school in 1950. Erick is also the home of Roger Miller and C.L. would often talk about riding home on the bus with Roger while he sat at the back of the bus with his guitar and sang to all those on the bus.

C.L. was preceded in death by his wife of 27 years Virginia Harney Wester; his parents, Solon H. and Stella (Johnson) Wester; and his siblings:  Wayne Wester, Ilavern Helms and Iletta Messer.

Cleatus was the loving father of Leon Wester of Jennings, Louisiana, Thyra (Larry) Grounds of Guymon, Oklahoma, Sherri (Danny) Brown of Burkburnett, Texas and Jerry (April) Wester of Valentine, Nebraska, stepchildren Heather (Doug) Voran and Evan Harney of Amarillo, Texas. He also leaves behind 20 grandchildren, 23 great grandchildren; many nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.  Cleatus was also the former husband and cherished friend of Ida Lundegreen Wester.

Cleatus joined Southwestern Public Service in 1959 in Amarillo, TX, relocating to Guymon, OK in 1970 where he retired after 34 years of employment. He enjoyed coaching girls softball, volleyball and track for Kids Inc. both in Amarillo and Guymon. He is fondly remembered by his former athletes as Coach Wester, even though he had no formal training. C.L. also enjoyed bowling on a men's league both in Amarillo and Guymon.

Memorial services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 30 ^th at 2:00 p.m. at the Sunset Lane Baptist Church, 1515 N. Sunset Lane in Guymon with Charles Ferguson officiating.  Due to Covid we ask you to wear your mask and social distance.  Inurnment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon.  Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
