Carol Adelle Schreiner was born to Adrian Leroy and Helen Gladys Milligan Wray on June 25, 1927 in Hitchcock and died May 12, 2019 at Heritage Community Manor, Guymon, Okla.
Carol grew up in the Gypsum Hills NW of Roman Nose and attended the Centralia Country School and yes, rode a horse with brother Jim to school and later graduating from Hitchcock High School. Carol loved her hills and had lots of fond memories growing up NW of Roman Nose and Hitchcock area. The "hills" and Schreiner's Hills later the home place and became known as "The Mule Barn" and was where 3 children were raised and looked forward to the grandchildren.
Carol was very active in the Watonga FFA Mothers Club and Hitchcock 4-H clubs, supporting the youth of the area and holding various offices in the Mothers Club. Albert and Carol installed carpet in most of the homes around the area for several years. Carol's last count was over 500 horses that Albert had bought over the years and each horse had a name. They also ran the Riding Stables at Roman Nose for several years.…and dad traded horses!!
Carol and Albert were married in Enid, Oklahoma on March 23, 1951 and when you saw one, generally the other was not far behind. And there are some funny stories!!
Carol is preceded in death by husband Albert; daughters: Lynne and Gayla; parents; brother Jim, a half brother, 3 infant brothers, niece Jane McCrary and a host of relatives and friends.
Survivors include son, Randy Schreiner and wife, Linda of Texhoma; Grandchildren: Jason Schreiner and wife Jana of Guymon, Jarod Schreiner and wife Cassie of Goodwell, Brandi and husband Clay Gilliland of Weatherford, Cody Wright, Weatherford and Leah and husband Clint Cushenbery, Ponca City, and several Great Grandchildren, Sister-in-law Carol Ann Wray and Niece Cathy Redinger, Kingfisher, Okla.
Viewing will be Sunday, May 19 from 1-6pm at Wilkinson Mortuary in Watonga.
Graveside Services will be conducted Monday, May 20, 2019 at 10AM at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery and under the direction of the Wilkinson Mortuary, Watonga, Okla. We ask that Memorials be made to the Guymon Heritage Manor, 1401 N Lelia, Guymon Okla. 73942 in leu of flowers if so chosen.
Local services were under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home.
