Obituary

Billy Raymond Chavez, 61, of Guymon, passed peacefully Friday morning, September 16th, 2016 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County with family by his side.

The son of Elevinio and Ruth Maria (Rael) Chavez, he was born August 31, 1955 in Clayton, New Mexico. Billy graduated from the Clayton High School with the Class of 1974.

He was happily united in marriage to Olivia Herrera on September 18, 1976 in Clayton. They moved to Guymon from Clayton in 1977.

Billy was an extremely loving husband, wonderful father and a very kind-hearted person to everyone he met. He was a very talented musician and loved to play his guitar. He was a member of the St. Peter's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus. He was an Assistant Manager of Wal-Mart Supercenter in Guymon for several years, and worked in retail for over 40 years.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Don Andy Chavez.

Survivors include his wife, Olivia of the home, daughter, Raquel Saspe and husband, Rene of Maricopa, Arizona, two sons, Billy Ray Chavez Jr and wife, Nicole of Edmond, Oklahoma and Anthony Chavez and wife, Dezire of Maricopa. Survivors also include five grandchildren, Sarina and Rene Jr Saspe, Landon Chavez, Anthony and Arielle Chavez, and two brothers, Elevinio Albert Chavez and wife, Lucy of Albuquerque, New Mexico and Roy Chavez and wife, Priscilla of Clayton, New Mexico, and sister-in-law, JoJo Talley of Clayton and many extended family members.

Rosary services will be Monday evening, September 19th at 7:00 p.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church. Funeral Mass will be Tuesday morning, September 20th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Peter's Catholic Church with Father Mike Wheelahan, Celebrant. Interment will follow at 3:00 p.m. CST in the Clayton Cemetery, Clayton, New Mexico. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Chavez family requests that memorials be given to Oklahoma Panhandle Partners, Medical Center League House in Amarillo, Texas, Pink Heals or to his loving wife, Olivia. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
