Bill "Skipper" Portwine, 64, passed away Friday night, January 12, 2018 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, Oklahoma.

The son of Zilbert Dennis and Jean Marie (Hurley) Portwine, Zilbert William "Bill" Portwine was born January 31, 1953 in Miles City, Montana. Bill was raised on the Bay Horse Ranch near Broadus, Montana. He attended school in Broadus, graduating from Powder River Co. High School with the Class of 1972. He was lovingly known as "Pops" by his younger friends, and he always had a nickname for everyone he knew.

Bill and Evelyn "Tink" Williams were united in marriage on June 30, 1973 in Broadus, Montana. Bill's work in the ranching industry moved him all over the country. He had most recently been a resident of the Oklahoma Panhandle, where he worked for Hitch Enterprises for the past month. Bill had a great love for cattle and horses. He was a member of the Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Mark Portwine.

Survivors include his wife, Evelyn Portwine of Seward, Nebraska; his four children and ten grandchildren: Billie and husband, Kent Bovard of Spiro, Oklahoma and their two children: Eli and Bailey; Greg Portwine and wife, Stacy of Stromsburg, Nebraska and their three children: Maddie, Kiersten and Lainey; Jodi and husband, Paul Cowan of Seward, Nebraska and their two children: Jaylee and Ryane; and Beau Portwine and wife, Shellie of Hooker, Oklahoma and their three children: Taylin, Emily and Markus. He is also survived by his sister, Cheri and husband, Monty Phillippi of Cheyenne, Wyoming; best friends: Richard & Mary Bowling of Shelbyville, Tennessee, Sharon Cirspinski and godson, Nick Cirspinski of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Cremation arrangements were under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon. Memorial services will be conducted Friday morning, January 26th at 10:00 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1808 Hot Springs Ave., Cheyenne, Wyoming. His remains will rest at the ranch where he was raised and loved.
