Betty Merlene Jackson, 89, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Thursday morning, May 29, 2025 at her home in Guymon.

The daughter of Merle Edward and Jessie Emily (Ray) Henness, she was born May 14, 1936 in Beaver, Oklahoma and raised in Elmwood.  She attended school in Beaver, graduating with the Class of 1954.

Betty was united in marriage to Walter A. Jackson on February 19, 1968 in Wichita, Kansas.  They moved to Guymon from Malden, Missouri in 1989.  Betty worked as a medical assistant for several years, and was an active member of the United Methodist Church.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Walter on February 25, 2010, son, Darrell R. Allen, and twin sister, Charlene Thrall.

Survivors include her daughter, Martha J. Turner and husband, David of Edgewood, New Mexico, daughter-in-law, Anne R. Allen of Bethany, Oklahoma, sister, Bonnie E. Hughes of Edmond, Oklahoma, two grandchildren: Sean Turner of Tijeras , New Mexico, and Jonathan C. Allen of Bethany, Oklahoma, and one great granddaughter, Levigna M. Allen of Claremore, Oklahoma.  Survivors also include several nieces and nephews including: Karen Hosier Jackson, Ed Hosier, Jr., Dr. Mike Hosier, Barry Hughes, Rex Hughes and Scott Hughes.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 3rd at 2:00 p.m. in the Elmhurst Cemetery with Rev. David Player officiating.  Visitation will be Monday June 2nd between the hours of 2:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home.
