Betty Davis, 89, of Guymon, Oklahoma, formerly of Colby, Kansas, passed away Thursday morning, August 4, 2016 at her home.

The daughter of George and Vera (Knox) Settle, she was born April 26, 1927 in Winona, Kansas. Betty attended Winona High School and excelled in tennis, volleyball and basketball. Her senior year she was named athlete of the year. Following high school she attended Fort Hays State College and Greeley where she received her teaching degree which lead her back home to teach school in Winona.

She was a member of the Letter Carriers Union where she worked her way from Clerk, Letter Carrier to Post Master. She held that position for several Kansas communities until retiring from Scott City with 21 years of total service.

Betty loved sports! She was a loyal fan of the Denver Broncos and looked forward each year to seeing a live game in Denver. She loved to bowl and most years she received an award for bowling over a 200 game in her bowling league. She also loved playing golf and served on the women's golf club league in Guymon.

She is preceded in death by her parents, a sister Mary Margheim, both husbands, son Marshal and daughter, Toni.

Betty met and married Harvey Swager, they had six children. Later she married Clyde Davis they had three children. Anita Harrison (Chuck) of Lakewood, Colorado, Roderick Swager (Connie) of Ankeny, Iowa, Betty Jo Wood of Brighton, Colorado, Larry Swager (Starla) of Guymon, Harvey Swager (Donna) of Goodland, Kansas, Debbie Castor (Russ) of Guymon and David Davis (Anita) of Guymon. Survivors also include one brother, Lester Settle (Charlotte) of Salina, Kansas, 34 grandchildren and numerous great grandchildren.

No matter where she lived she enjoyed making friends and serving the public. She cherished the time spent with all of them. Her smile, kind words and friendliness will be missed by her family and all who touched her life.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday morning, August 8th at 11:00 a.m. at the Beulah Cemetery in Colby, Kansas with Pastor Robert Alexander, Colby Trinity Lutheran Church officiating.

The Davis family request memorials be given to Prairie Museum of Art and History, Colby, Kansas or the Butterfield Trail Historical Society, Russell Springs, Kansas.
