On January 19, 1927, Bettia Loss Herrin was born in Brady, Texas; however, through the years, she became known as Bettie Lou Taylor and Nannie. She passed away early in the morning of July 30, 2016 at OU Medical Center in Oklahoma City.

She was loved by so many people, and father, Floyd Clinton and mother, Florence Gertrude (Morris) Herrin, had a great factor on that. She obtained her EMT training in Liberal, Kansas and worked as a CNA. Bettie loved listening to old music, doing the twist, watching her favorite TV programs, reading magazines, taking care of her animals and helping people in any way she could. She was a member of the Pentecostal Church.

While living in Bisbee, Arizona Bettie met the love of her life, J.W. "Red" Taylor. They married on June 3, 1960 at Lordsburg, New Mexico. They moved to Guymon in 1963 from Bisbee and then in 1996 she moved to Oklahoma City to be closer to family, but she always considered Guymon her home.

Although, her husband, J.W. and one of her two sons, Michael D. Gherna, passed before her, she still had great memories and stories that she loved telling and that we loved to ask about. Everyone that knew her, knew she could take care of herself and she maintained that mentally for as long as she could, even into her last couple of days at the hospital. Everyone that came into contact with Bettie will remember and cherish her sarcastic remarks and her love for Elvis Presley.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, J.W. "Red" Taylor in 1991; son, Michael D. Gherna and sister, Katherine Herrin.

Survivors include her brother, Samuel Preston Stidham of Chandler, Arizona; her son, Richard Gherna of Oklahoma City; her grandchildren: Cynthia Trujillo of Oklahoma City and Christopher Gherna and wife, Anna of El Reno; great grandchildren: Isaiah Romero and wife, Chantal, Triston Trujillo and Maurissa Trujillo all of Oklahoma City and Guinevere Gherna and Skye Gherna of El Reno; and her great-great grandson, Rhylan Romero of Oklahoma City.

Her funeral services will be conducted Saturday afternoon, August 6th at 2:00 p.m. at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home with Mark Calvin officiating. Graveside services will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
