Barbara Jean George, 69, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Friday morning, September 28, 2018 in Garden City, Kansas

The daughter of Robert Lee and Dorothy Alice (Minemyer) Mathews, she was born May 19, 1949 in Missoula, Montana.

Barbara moved to Guymon from Boise City in 1967.  She attended school in Guymon and Beauty School in Liberal, Kansas.  Barbara was a City of Guymon bus driver for several years, retiring in 2010.  She was a member of the Body Of Christ in Guymon and active member of the no Man's Land Senior Citizen Center.

She was married to Jesse Hegwood on June 16, 1966 in Clayton, New Mexico.  He preceded her in death on June 29, 1983.  She was later married to Ernie George.

She is preceded in death by husband, Jesse Hegwood, her father, Robert Mathews and brother, Robert "Buddy" Mathews.

Survivors include her mother, Dorothy Mathews of Keyes, Oklahoma, one daughter, Peggy Crawford of Garden City, Kansas, two sons, Trivitt Hegwood of Goodwell, Oklahoma and Jarrett George and wife, Amber of Hooker, Oklahoma.  Survivors also include five grandchildren: Jordan Crawford, Tyvan Hegwood, Theran Hegwood, Jannie Watson and Faith George; great grandson, Hugh Hegwood and four sisters, Shirley Barnum and husband, Toby of Keyes, Oklahoma, Pat Whitfield of Keyes, Oklahoma, Connie Japet of Colbert, Oklahoma and Beverly Edler and husband, Cecil of Elk City, Oklahoma.

Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday morning, October 2 ^nd at 10:00 a.m. at the Elmhurst Cemetery with Eddie Stewart officiating.  Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Visitation will be Monday, October 1 ^st between the hours of 4:00 and 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.  Memorials in memory of Barbara may be given to the No Man's Land Senior Citizens.  Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, P.O Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
