The son of Art and Jane Hatfield, Art Hatfield, Jr. was born July 24, 1938 in McAllen, Texas. The attending physican was his grandfather, Dr. Walter Hatfield. Art attended the McAllen and Edinburg schools until the second semester of his junior year when his parents moved to Texhoma. He graduated from Texhoma High School in 1957. He married Glenda Birt November 28, 1959 in Guymon.

In their early marriage Art farmed and owned Art's Skelly service station. He became his father-in-law's foreman for Dandee Supply in 1961. Later, in August of 1970, he became owner of Hatfield Design Builders. In his career he has built and designed hundreds of grain storage facilities and buildings. He has been one of the top dealers for Behlen Mfg. and Sweet Mfg. for many years. He is also a dealer for GSI. Also, in the 70's he and Glenda owned and operated Circle H Motorcycles. Seeing a need in Guymon he re-opened the Feed Store with his partner Carlos Urias. He was a Texas County Commissioner in the early 1980's and was President of Northwest District of County officers for two years. He has been a board member of the County Health Department since his term as County Commissioner.

His many interests and hobbies are very evident, from stamp collecting to military items and everything in-between. He was a member of the NRA, No Man's Rifle Association, and Guymon Flatlanders. He has always been active in community events. Church has always been a main priority throughout Art and Glenda's marriage.

Other than family, his greatest joy was seeing the young men he mentored becoming upstanding men. Of them, many remain part of the family.

Art passed away Saturday morning, June 10, 2017 at the Memorial Hospital of Texas County in Guymon, surrounded by his loving family.

He is predeceased by his parents Art and Jane Hatfield of Guymon, his grandparents Dr. Walter and Luetta Hatfield, McAllen and CG (Bud) and Ada Harryman of Guymon.

Survivors included his wife Glenda Birt Hatfield of 57 years and two daughters Cindy Hays of Amarillo, Terri Branson and husband Mike of Guymon, son Glen Hatfield and his wife Lesa of Guymon. Grandchildren Caleb Branson and Shelby of Guymon, Cassie Pavlicek and husband Josh of Guymon, Jacob Hays of Fort Worth, Colton Hatfield and wife Katie of Fay, Oklahoma, Bonnie Hays of Guymon and Spencer Hatfield of Guymon. Eight great-grandchildren Lane, Cale, Ella, Josie, Carter, Landon, Jenna and Luke. Brothers Grant Hatfield and wife Charlotte of Guymon and Mark Hatfield and wife Carolyn of Isabell. Sister-in-law Jan Birt of Austin, Texas. As well as many cousins, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday afternoon, June 13th at 2:00 p.m. at the Guymon Church of the Nazarene with Pastors Wayne Dawson, Tom Freeman and Jack Peck officiating. Interment will follow at the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

Memorials in Art's name can be made to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or to the Oaks of Mamre. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch - Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
