Antonio Arthur Ramirez, 88, longtime Guymon resident, passed away Saturday morning, June 12, 2021, at the Heritage Community Manor.
The son of Susano "Jack" and Albina (Macias) Ramirez, he was born December 19, 1932, in Canadian, Texas. Tony attended school in Canadian and San Antonio, Texas. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict, a brotherhood he proudly shared with his grandson, Kye.
Tony and Lillie Mary Olguin were united in marriage on April 25, 1959, in Hereford, Texas. They moved to Guymon from Perryton, Texas in October of 1967. He owned and operated Ramirez Painting until his retirement in 1997. He was a member of St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church.
He was preceded in death by his parents, step-father, Paul Reynozo, beloved son, Philip Ramirez and five siblings: Martin, Oscar and Louis Ramirez, Ofelia Perales and Rachel Sedillo.
Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Lillie Ramirez of the home; three children: Mike Ramirez and wife, Liliana of Dumas, Texas, Randy Ramirez of Guymon and Sabrina Ramirez, also of Guymon. Survivors also include one sister, Elizabeth Torres of Guymon; one step-brother, Cuco Reynozo of Amarillo; sisters-in-law, Nieves Garcia of Ruidoso, Trudy Lopez of Ruidoso Downs, Judy Ramirez of Guymon, Dora Ramirez of Tulsa, and Ruby Olguin of Hereford; seven grandchildren, Anthony of Guymon, Kye and wife, Stephanie of Amarillo, Michael of Philadelphia, Andy of Guymon, Juan and Andres of Dumas, Brieanna of Tulsa and three great-grand children, Maretta, Trae and Landon, all of Amarillo; along with numerous nieces and nephews.
A funeral wake will be held Thursday evening, June 17 at 7:00 p.m. at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home with family greeting friends beginning at 5:00 p.m. Funeral Mass will be Friday afternoon, June 18 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Peter the Apostle Catholic Church, with Father Jerome Krug, celebrant. Family inurnment will be in the Elmhurst Cemetery at a later date.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be given to the Heritage Community Manor, Panhandle Services for Children or Oaks of Mamre. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942. Friends can sign the online guestbook and leave condolences at www.bunchroberts.com .
