Albert Eugene Freeland, 81, of rural Guymon passed away on Tuesday, September 27, 2022 at his home.

The son of Albert Leroy and Ruth Marcella (Dutter) Freeland, Albert was born January 15, 1941 in San Pedro, California. Al graduated from San Diego High School, Gray Castle with the Class of 1959.

Al began his military career when he joined the US Army in August 1959. During his 37-year military career, Al held the rank of First Sergeant and retired as an E8 Master Sergeant. Following his honorable discharge from the Army, he began service with the US National Guard, retiring October 30, 1996. Al worked in logistics and communication for the Federal Civil Service and worked for SATCOM, Military Satellite Communications. Al also worked as a police officer for many years in California. He was an avid sportsman/hunter and was a member of the 1984 Olympic shooting team.

Al was united in marriage to Sandra Lea Anderson on June 20, 1964 in Farmington, Minnesota. Al and Sandy made their home in Atascadero, California, moving to Guymon after retirement.

He is preceded in death by his parents and one brother, Kenneth Freeland, father-in-law, and mother-in-law.

Survivors include his wife, Sandra Freeland; two sons: Michael Freeland and wife, Darci, of rural Guymon, and Steven Freeland and wife, Cassia, of Sterling, Colorado; three grandchildren: Alyson Kornele and husband, Braxton; Samantha Freeland and Breanna Freeland; two great-grandsons, Weston Kornele and Bex Kornele; one sister, Dee Freeland Mata and husband, George, of San Diego, CA; one brother, Wendell Freeland, of San Diego, CA; sister-in-law, Shirley Freeland, of San Diego, CA; and six nieces and nephews.

Inurnment memorial services will be held on Friday, February 24th at 11:30 a.m. at the Miramar National Cemetery in San Diego, California.
