Florence Mildred Ivie, 86, lifelong Oklahoma Panhandle resident, passed away Sunday morning, July 7th, 2013 at the Southwest Medical Center in Liberal, Kansas.
The daughter of Arlow E. and Minnie Henrietta (Wells) Johnson, she was born May 1, 1927 in Guymon, Oklahoma.
She was united in marriage to Cecil S. Ivie on October 21, 1951 in Boise City, Oklahoma. She was a member of the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough, Oklahoma. She dearly loved her family and all of her many friends.
Mildred graduated from the Guymon High School with the Class of 1947. She attended Panhandle A&M College in Goodwell, graduating with a degree in teaching in 1951. She taught school for several years and was a homemaker. Education was very important to Mildred. She was proud that all her children and grandchildren have graduated from college. Following his service in the Marines, Carl plans to attend college.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband for 61 years, Cecil S. Ivie.
Survivors include four children: Arletta June Ivie of Dalhart, Texas, Gary Lynn Ivie of Guymon, Lorraine Gale Ivie Morgan and husband, Nathan of Newton, Kansas and Paul Warren Ivie of Tulsa, Oklahoma and friend, Denise Breeden of Houston, Texas. Survivors also include seven grandchildren: Briana Kathleen Kilpatrick Renich and husband, Dan of Park City, Kansas, Craig Randall Kilpatrick and wife, Jennifer of Bartlesville, Oklahoma, Carl Alan Kilpatrick, USMC, San Diego, California, Rachelle Ivie Morgan Norman and husband, Nicholas of Kansas City, Missouri, Joseph Sanders Morgan and wife, Dyan of Lawrence, Kansas, Wesley Johnson Morgan and wife, Angela of Memphis Tennessee, and Davis Ditto Morgan of Everett, Washington, and two great granddaughters, Alice Ella Norman and Cora Elise Renich.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, July 10th at 2:00 p.m. at the Morning Star United Methodist Church in Hough, Oklahoma with Rev. Jacki Banks officiating. Interment will follow in the Hooker Cemetery. Services are under the direction of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Ivie family will greet friends Tuesday evening, July 9th between the hours of 4:30 and 6:30 p.m. at the funeral home, 122 NE Seventh, Guymon.
Memorials in memory of Mildred can be given to the Morning Star United Methodist Church or to a charity of choice. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
