James Thomas (Jim) Freeman, 60, lifelong resident of the Oklahoma Panhandle, passed away Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 in Round Rock, Texas.
Jim was the 5th child born to Carl William and Gwendolyn Petty Freeman on April 12th, 1952 in Guymon, OK.
He grew up in Texhoma and graduated with the class of 1970. Jim attended Panhandle State University and later studied architecture at Oklahoma State University.
On April 9th, 1977, Jim and Virginia (Ginger) Borth were married in Stratford, TX. They celebrated 35 years of marriage this year.
Jim retired from Conoco-Phillips in August of 2012 after nearly 30 years of service as a field operator in the oil patch south of Texhoma.
Jim was an avid golfer and a fixture at Sunset Hills golf course in Guymon where he also enjoyed serving as a marshal on the weekends. Jim had a lifelong love of sport and competition. He was a loyal fan of OSU athletics through thick and thin and spent many years volunteering and coaching local Kids Inc. sports including soccer, baseball, and football. He so loved the opportunity to make a direct impact on the lives of many young people in Guymon through the life lessons that are learned through sports and competition.
Jim is survived by his loving wife of 35 years, Ginger, of the home; his two sons: Collin and wife, Shawnda of Austin, TX, and Christopher and wife Jennifer, and grandchildren, Gracee and Gavin of Temple, TX; his sister, Millie Shrader and husband, Bill of Oklahoma City, OK; his brother, Terry and wife, JoAnn of San Jose, CA; his brother Phillip and wife, Lisa of Houston, TX.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Carl William, mother, Gwen Freeman, and brother, Carl Freeman.
Memorial services will be conducted Monday afternoon, November 12th at 2:00 p.m. at the First Christian Church in Texhoma with Terry Freeman and Pastor Larry Watson officiating. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.
The Freeman family suggests that memorials in memory of Jim be made to the Odyssey Hospice of Amarillo or to a charity of choice. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, PO Box 1112, Guymon, OK 73942.
