The son of Chris and Bertha (Fischer) Eggers, he was born September 29, 1929 at Stafford, Kansas.

He was united in marriage to Gayle Halley on December 17, 1976 in Guymon.

Mr. Eggers worked as a heavy equipment operator, most recently for Hardberger & Smylie, R.G. Morgan, Flint and Arnold Dirt Construction. Wormy was “forced” into retirement by his son at the age of 80. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers since 1956. He was also an active member of the Living Word Fellowship church. He could often be found at his favorite hangout, J & J Café, telling tall tales.

Wormy was preceded in death by his parents; one son, Ricky Eggers; one daughter, Verla Eggers; one grandson, Steven Kirkland; one brother, Jerry Eggers and an infant sister.

Survivors include his wife, Gayle Eggers; five children: Karen and husband, Kenneth Moore of Alva, Oklahoma, Ron Eggers and wife, Shirley of Turpin, Oklahoma, Randy Eggers and wife, Connie of Tyler, Texas, Sammie Eggers of Guymon and Linda Eggers, also of Guymon. He is also survived by twelve grandchildren, eleven great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren; two brothers, Danny Eggers of Guymon and Bud Eggers of Colorado Springs, Colorado; along with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, April 18th at 3:00 p.m. at the Living Word Fellowship with Pastor Dale Stephens officiating. Interment will follow in the Elmhurst Cemetery in Guymon. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Eggers family suggests that memorials be given to Loaves and Fishes or No Man’s Land Senior Citizen’s Center. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
