J.A. Palmer

U.S. Veteran

J.A. Palmer, 86, of Texhoma, Texas; passed away Friday evening, April 6th, 2012 at the Coldwater Manor in Stratford, Texas.

The son of Walter L. and Pauline (Weatherly) Palmer, he was born on September 18, 1925 in Texhoma, Oklahoma. J.A. was a lifelong panhandle resident. He attended school and graduated from the Texhoma High School. He was a member of the Texhoma First Christian Church, and Masonic Lodge. He served in the Army Air Force during World War II.

J.A. was united in marriage to Barbara Grossman on February 18, 1967 in Guymon. He was a farmer the majority of his working life.

He is preceded in death by his parents; step-son, William D. “Bill” Smith; sister, Cleda McNeal, and brother-in-law, Elmer White.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara of the home; three daughters, Paula Palmer of Texhoma, Lynda and husband, Dale Adkins of Spring, Texas, and Kay and husband, Tommy Lawhon of Austin, Texas. Survivors also include three step-children, Barbara L. and husband, Jodie Allen of Erick, Oklahoma, Eulalee and husband, Mike Hubble of Turlock, California, and Lenoard Smith and wife, Deann of Erick, Oklahoma; one sister, Peggy White of Texhoma; numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and friends.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday afternoon, April 13th at 2:00 p.m. at the Texhoma First Christian Church with Pastor Larry Watson officiating. Interment will follow in the Texhoma Cemetery. Services are under the care of the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home of Guymon.

The Palmer family request memorials be given to the American Heart Association. Memorials will be accepted at the Bunch – Roberts Funeral Home, P.O. Box 1112, Guymon, Oklahoma 73942.
